How to Donate Golf Equipment (And Why It Matters)

By Fore Feathers ·

Somewhere in America right now, there’s a set of golf clubs sitting in a garage, untouched for years. Maybe the owner upgraded. Maybe they stopped playing. Maybe the clubs belonged to someone who passed away. Whatever the reason, those clubs still have life in them — and someone out there needs them.

Equipment is one of the biggest barriers to entry in golf. A new set of clubs can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. For families already stretched thin, that price tag puts the sport completely out of reach. But a donated set of used clubs? That’s a door flung open.

What We Accept

At Fore Feathers, we accept clubs, bags, balls, shoes, gloves, and accessories in usable condition. “Usable” doesn’t mean perfect. Cosmetic wear is fine. Older models are fine. Mismatched sets are fine. We clean, organize, and distribute everything to participants in our programs who need it.

We don’t accept broken or damaged equipment that would compromise someone’s safety or experience. If a club head is loose or a shaft is cracked, it’s time for the recycling bin, not a donation box.

How to Donate

The process is simple:

  1. Gather your equipment and assess its condition
  2. Contact us through our website to arrange a drop-off or pickup
  3. We handle the rest — cleaning, sorting, and matching equipment to participants

If you’re local to one of our partner course regions, you can often drop equipment off directly at events. Check /events for upcoming opportunities.

Why It Matters More Than You Think

A set of donated clubs does more than save someone money. It sends a message: you belong here. For a young person who has never played golf, receiving their own set of clubs — even a used set — creates a sense of ownership and commitment that borrowing can’t replicate. It’s theirs. They take care of it. They practice with it. They show up differently when they feel equipped, literally and figuratively.

For elders re-entering the game after years away, donated equipment removes the financial excuse that keeps them on the couch. They don’t need to justify spending money on new clubs. The barrier disappears, and the only question left is: when’s the next tee time?

The Ripple Effect

Equipment donations create a chain of generosity. The person who receives your clubs plays. They improve. Eventually, they upgrade and donate their old set to someone else. The cycle continues. One donation becomes two, then four, then a community of golfers who all trace their start back to someone who cleaned out their garage.

Clean out yours. Someone is waiting on the first tee.
